| Hmmmm, Beeeeer... | ||

Thanks to an extra ticket that my co-worker, Nic was able to secure, I get to go to beer festivals on back-to-back Saturdays!! Today it will be the Taste of Tomahawk and next week The Gitchee Gumee Beer Festival. I am not gonna bother with a link to the Tomahawk deal, because the site sucks! Gitchee Gumee website is not that impressive either, but the event makes up for their website, haha. I've not heard great things about the Tomahawk deal, but we'll see... I may run into some of Michelle's family as she has some cousin's in the area. A couple of her cousins are really cool... One of them, including the woman he is married too, not so much. Won't break my heart if I don't see them. After this past week at work, the beer fest timing is great!! The last five weeks have been pretty stressful, toss in that week at class, and then this past week, well, there aren't enough beer festivals to go around! The promotion I got back around the beginning of February has been nothing but a major friggin hassle! So, I gave it back!! I haven't seen the .0034% increase in pay it probably would have netted me, so screw it, I am sick and tired of dealing with other people's shit.................................................................................. I think I just did the right thing there, haha... I left that last paragraph with a very long ellipsis... Why? I was definitely encroaching on the territory in which one becomes dooced. Each . above equates to a word that I had typed and thought better of before posting. Anyway, Michelle is just getting her stuff ready to drive me over to the next designated driver to get me to and from the event safely. |

| Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day To Ya... | ||
|
I forgot to stop out yesterday and make a Happy St. Paddy's Day post. Hope you all had a wonderful day! I have a wee bit o' the Irish in me and when I was younger was a heavy drinker of the green beer. Last night, Mr. and Mrs. BP South came over for some brats, kraut, beans, potato salad, chips, dips, chains and whips, and spirits... BP and I worked hard on killing a some Guinness and Tyranena Bitter Woman IPA. BP brought the Bitter Woman, actually, since Mrs. BP came, that should read, BP brought the Bitter Women... Ah yes, much better, BP would scold me for not using proper Engrish! He also brought some Fat Squirrel from New Glarus, yummy! It was my xmas present! Spent a majority of the day yesterday vegging out after the week in class, then started playing with some of what I learned in class. Forget the whole dual/triple/quad boot deal, I am gonna go with virtual machines, eventually. As I type this, I am cloning my laptop as a virtual machine and the image files are being copied to my desktop. In a little while I will be able to launch my laptop virtual machine on my desktop... Weird, huh? With just a bare minimum of effort, I found that there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of virtual machines available online to download! Rather than install Ubuntu as a virtual machine, I found an Ubuntu Virtual Machine that was already created... I can download this and deploy it to my laptop, desktop, server, wherever I want, just by sending the image files to the host. I found a Mac OS X image for x86 hardware, that is about 1.3 gigs and will probably finish later this afternoon. The only way I would ever have a Mac is have a virtual Mac. Weather dude says we're supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow this evening and through the overnight. Great... After feeling those mid 60's temps those few days last week in the Twin Shitties, I am now ready for spring! Big Joe came through and secured tickets for the Gitchee Gumee Beer Festival in Superior, WI. BP and I will be heading up there on March 31st and return home April 1st. This is our second trip there! Last year, after attending, I wasn't sure I wanted to go back as it is really crowded and the bathroom situation kind of sucked. But, what the hell, it's all about drinking some good beers!! |

| Yeah yeah yeah... Where's Paulie? | ||
|
I received a few emails in the last few days asking what I was up to... Most of the queries came from peeps that read my boring words here and they must be getting shack happy with spring fever to wanna know what the hell is up with me!! Anyway, I am not at home this week... I am in St. Louis Park, MN (just West of downtown Minneapolis) attending a class in VMWare Infrastructure 3: Install and Configure. The class is intense! I have attended nearly a dozen of these techy trainings or classes in as many years... Most have been nothing more than a good reason to get out of the office for the week, party, and take a mini-vacation. With this class, not so much... I have cotton swabs stuffed into my ears to prevent too much brain seepage. I love the class!! Totally geeking out with all the Linux command line stuff and the very, very, very in-depth networking, CPU, memory, and storage configurations. The instructor is really good! I am getting some exposure to technologies that I knew a little bit about, but after this class, I will know much more about SANS, both fiber channel and iSCSI. My lab partner is a SAN Systems Engineer, so he has been very helpful! The days are breezing right on by, we go beyond 5 PM and there is no getting out early on Friday. The instructor said it was like packing 6 or 7 days into 4 days. Hopefully, we'll at least get out on time so that I can drive the 250 miles back home and I will arrive at a reasonable hour. The area of town I am in is so messed up... Tons of office buildings, no real good boozers or anything near here. TGI Fridays, Fuddruckers, and Papa Johns are close by. Driving around here sucks some major butt, my class is only a mile from the hotel, so that is a piece of cake!! I have a really nice room, a king suite, with sitting area that has a couch, chair and ottoman, plus a little wet bar area with refrigerator, microwave, and sitting table with a couple chairs. Big old comfy bed with a mix of down pillows and nice foam pillows in case you have allergies. I am leaving them all on there. By the time morning rolls around, I usually have one of the firmer foam pillows and all the rest are scattered about. I also have hi-speed Internet access via wire, but when I did a quick scan of the area for wireless connections, I found at least 15 access points and only 1/3 of them were secured. I snapped some camera phone pics and will put them on the moblog when I get back. |

| A bit nostalgic tonight... | ||
|
Michelle and the kids headed up to the school for a basketball game tonight... The Crandon Boys won the conference title and are going through regionals to see if they can make it to Madison for championship play. I hate basketball, no chance in hell you'll see me up there. If Mike ever decides to play basketball, then I will go and watch and cheer him on. But for now, I'll keep hating it... Real basketball died when players like Oscar Robertson, John Havlicek, Norm Van Lier, and Nate Archibald left the game... Now it's just gansta punks. So, enough bemoaning modern day basketball... I busted out the oldies folder in my stash of MP3s. I usually have a folder for each artist, but I keep a 60's and 70's folder of favorites from that time. All of the songs in there were my favorites when I was a kid and I probably wore out my parent's albums playing them over and over again on the big console stereo. So I loaded up Winamp and have been listening while I get the scanner setup on my desktop computer and post this message. Here's a sampling from the playlist tonight.

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
