Do You Like???
Tough if ya don't:-) I've been working to get rid of the huge table fiasco that I had originally started with. It still needs some more work in the links section. I'll work on that some other year. Once upon a time, using tables was the way to go in the web world. Not so much anymore. Although the Blog stuff is still tables based that'll have to stay.

Using CSS instead of the tables drastically reduced the amount of lines of HTML, which means, it actually loads faster now. I benchmarked it at a speed test site and I think on a 14.4 modem it loads 7 seconds faster:-) On a 56k modem it was 4 seconds faster (your welcome DKHT). It is really a smarter way of doing things. I think Dilbert is gonna go, I'll link to their site. Maybe some other junk can go. Spring cleaning.

I think I am up to $4.40 on my Google ads, keep clicking on them, hahaha! I'll be a gozillionaire in no time!

Had some snow the past couple of days. Posted a couple pics at the Moblog.

There Outta Be A Law... AdSense... Pope Pickin...
I saw this at another blog. What were these crack smokin parents thinking? Check this out...

You may have noticed the AdSense ads from Google.com. I am just playing with it, see how it all works. I put it out here and on the Moblog page too. If you click on something I might get some cold hard cash:-) It has been up for a week or two; I think I have about $4.02 in my bucket! Once it hits $50.00, they'll send a check:-) I think it is a cool idea!! Serve up ads based on the content. Wish they would allow links to pop open in a new window, but that violates their TOS, I guess. I asked them very nicely, in an e-mail, if we could do that and they sent a nasty-gram back saying no freakin way. Oh well, maybe when I have made my first $50.00, I'll get a case and a half of good beer and pull the ads:-)

Oh yeah... There is a new pope. Not like you heard it here first, right? Hahaha. This guy is a hard line conservative; not good if you're a liberal catholic. But, he is old! I'm not a catholic and could care less either way... Good lesson on the rigmarole of pope pickin! Man, what a cluster!

Aurora Watch!
According to SpaceWeather.com, the conditions are ripening for aurora activity. Activity is low right now, but may pick up through tomorrow! It has been a while since we had some quality aurora activity around here.

It was really good on November 7th, 2004! Here is a link to a page of pics taken in my driveway. Views above my house (with the 3-car garage) are actually facing SOUTH! Southern Lights??? They are BIG pictures, 1600x1200, suitable for the desktop wallpaper.

Google Maps Just Get Better and Better!!
They have now added a satellite view! Check out Crandon!!

You can even get a direction route with satellite view too! Check out my commute to work! Not exact representation because I did not plug in the addresses, just the city info.

I love maps and stuff! Goes back to my early childhood and those killer National Geographic maps that I used to hang on the wall. I think the real reason I loved being an OTR truck driver was because of the maps. Seeing the USA and parts of Canada (even though they hate us) was very cool.

Another cool deal about Google... They upped their Gmail storage to two whole gigs. All they need is a messenger client and world domination will soon be theirs. If you want a Gmail invite, lemme know, I'll send one to you.

RSS 2.0 Feed Is Active!
I've added an RSS 2.0 feed to the site, permanent linkie on the left, in the nav bar. RSS is a cool and geeked out way to get your Huml.org updates without actually having to visit the site! All you need is an RSS capable reader and away you go. Personally, I like to let Thunderbird handle ALL my e-mail, newsgroup, and RSS needs.

The Moblog has had an RSS 2.0 feed for some time now. That is actually really slick!

If you are new to RSS, check out this link. Don't wanna run Thunderbird? That's cool, check out this link for some alternative readers.

Second Post Of The Day!!
I could not help the second posting... Was going to save it for tomorrow, but it has to go out tonight. All of my family along with some friends that visit this site will not truly appreciate the following quote from Fred Brooks. However, I was reading a geeked out article on MySQL today in which someone referenced this quote. Anyone who has ever done any real programming and/or DBA work will probably agree. I especially like the dig on managers, haha!!

"Every significant program should be written twice: once to understand the problem and once to solve it. The main thing organizations of all sizes are missing is this: If the database is complex, you are guaranteed to get it wrong the first time. But it's hard for managers to accept this and factor it into their schedule."

Do You Have A Living Will???
This was sent to me by a friend. I thought it was funny and kind of appropriate, given the events surrounding the whole Terri Schiavo ordeal. If you don't have a living will, you can use this, cut, copy, and paste and have at it… I modified it a little bit:-)

LIVING WILL

I, _________________________ (fill in the blank), being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of peckerwood politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it. If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to sit up and ask for a cold beer and the score of the Packer game, it should be presumed that I won't ever get better.

When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my spouse, children, and/or attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes, and call it a day. If they won't do it, go out on the street and get some random passerby or wino.

Under no circumstances shall the members of the Legislature enact a special law to keep me on life-support machinery. I don't care how many fundamentalist votes they're trying to scrounge for their run for the presidency; they should play politics with someone else's life and leave me alone to die in peace. It is my wish that these boneheads mind their own dang business, and pay attention instead to the health, education, and future of the millions of Americans who aren't in a permanent coma. It just goes to show you how sick you have to be in this country to get Congress to pay attention to your health care.

I couldn't care less if a hundred thousand religious zealots send e-mails to legislators in which they pretend to care about me or demonstrate outside my hospital with their bleeding Jesuses and sandwiches with Mary's face on them. I don't know these people, and I certainly haven't authorized them to preach and crusade on my behalf.

And if any of my family goes against my wishes and tries to turn my case into a political cause, I hereby promise to come back from the grave and make his or her existence a living hell.

Harvick Wins and Harvick Wins!!!
It has been a long freakin time since I have been able to write that!! Unfortunately, I did not get to watch either checker flag finish. On Sunday I was driving over to the kennel to pick up Jake after our weekend away, see a few pics in the Moblog. However, I was listening to the radio call by PRN. They do a pretty good job of calling the race on radio, I was surprised! So, after 55 races, Kevin Harvick finally wins a Nextel Cup race!! Woohoo-woohoohoo! Then, on Monday, he wins the Busch race that was rained out on Saturday. I got a couple updates off the web but lost track when I got busy with at work. Don't wanna give them any more reasons to ship my job to communist China. "Ah, you no workie, you watchie racie on Interneta, no job for you!".

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
