Sammi Made Me Do It!
Well, she did, here's proof! I was playing with my Sony digital camera and I thought I was gonna have to replace my battery. Well, I remembered some good old advice from BP when his Sony camera started showing the same probs. Well, my battery appears to now hold a charge, so I was testing and playing. Here is the result, a tour of our messy office:-)

Sad Day...
Michelle's Grandmother passed away overnight. Michelle drove down to Waukesha to be with her family yesterday and then drove home very early this morning after she passed. Godspeed Grandma...

Memorial Day Weekend Part II
Today Michelle and I went out to hit a few caches since the kids were in school. We grabbed an easy one first, cuz the second one was gonna be a hike. Wasn't sure how the back would handle that.

Here's the first one. We stopped there first cuz it had a travel bug that had already gone some 2900+ miles. I was very surprised to see the shrine/grotto back there, here are the pics.

The second one was less than 10 miles away via gravel road. This looked like it might have some nice scenery along the Peshtigo River. When we parked the truck the GPS indicated it was .57 miles (as the crow flies), but it came out to be .71 via the trail. No bush whackin here, but it weren't always a walk in the park:-) We probably put on another .71 miles, just fartin around and lookin for that SOB. We finally cried Uncle and took off.

We took some pics while back there, click here. I really need to get that battery for my digital camera so we can have some good quality pics! The rapids were really cool! The second picture on that page is of the stump. I'm half thinking about making up a cache in some old Tupperware and putting it in that stump. The area back there deserves a cache, lots of people walk that trail, though we saw nobody today.

Memorial Day Weekend Start!!
Taking the Friday before the weekend off so I can get a 4-day weekend. It's supposed to rain, but who cares, beats the hell out of work any old day of the week. Michelle's car is in for a brake job and new rotors, so we'll pick that up in the AM after dropping kids off at school. Then, maybe we'll hit a cache or two, depending on rain.

In anticipation of Beer Fest, I put a countdown timer on my page. Pretty soon and we'll be hitting some new beers up in Eagle River.

I am about ready to start the great boycott of McD's again. Sorry BP. I gotta new rant, hehehe (thanx Jimmy). Details coming to the MoBlog, soon. I've seen them do this kinda crap before. I personally think they do it for revenue reasons, short every customer 1/3 cup of coffee/crapachino, and pretty soon the dollars and cents add up.

Wifey Goes GeoCaching!
Both of the kids were all jacked up today and running about 250 MPH. Decided to go find a cache or two that were car friendly. I checked the GeoCaching.com site for any new caches in the area. A new one was in the list, only 4.18 miles away, and it had a travel bug. A travel bug is similar to a dog tag and they travel from cache to cache. So, we picked the travel bug up from this cache and we'll deposit it in another cache sometime soon. If you really wanna know more about TB's, read about it here.

Here was our first find.

Here was our second find.

I sent some pics up to the MoBlog. However, the server appears a little pissy today and hasn't yet published them.

I AM SCUM!! I CHEATED!!! ADDICTION SUCKS!!
I guess it was bound to happen... I am so ashamed of myself. Words cannot begin to describe the regret and the remorse that I feel. I had it under control!! I WAS THE MAN!! I had made it many, many, many months!! I smacked this beotch in the face, I won, I was never going to indulge again!! I made it through the Holidays!! I made it through the corporate tsunami!! I made it through the Eagle River snowmobile races where BP's influence made it hard to look the other way, but I did.

How could I be so stupid? Sure, I've got stress. Doesn't everyone? Sure, I have desires. I mean, I'm only a man!! A very weak man...

Since I carry a camera phone and have the ability to document my life, as it happens. I caught the moment, digitally, and put the evidence of my asinine ways on display for all to see. Perhaps through public humiliation and ridicule, I will see the error in my ways. Click here for the horrifying pictures:-(

Oh yeah, look for the "Test, shhhh...." link on the page. Hint, lower and right:-)

Happy Birthday Twinies!!!
I have to wish my twin sisters a VERY happy birthday today, May 15th! I think only one of them has a computer that is connected to the Internet. They're both getting pretty damned old, I used a larger font with bold just for them! Hell, it probably still isn't enough! Little old "blue-hairs", that's what they're turning into!! Happy 37th, 38th, 39th, whatever the hell it is, birthday, Anette and Michele!!Yes, that is how their names are spelled. I'm suprised I wasn't named Jairold Pawl, hehehe

I Should Have Plugged In A Higher Buy-It-Now!!
In my quest to clear out some old stuff to make room for new stuff (new GPS), I put "Freebie" out on eBay with a pretty cheap Buy-It-now. Was snapped up in about 3 hours. I figured it might have gone to 160, based on watching other auctions, so I was real happy with 150. Especially since, like I said, it was FREE:-)

Later in the week I will be listing my Magellan Meridian Gold. A nice used unit with only a car power cable, the data cable will go with my Platinum unit in a couple weeks. Both will have a 32 MB SD memory card, but the Platinum will have all the "legal" mapping software included plus the windshield mount and car/data cable. The Platinum will also have a healthy dose of maps on a DVD included with it! I just bought a 128 MB SD card for it, which I will keep to use with the new unit, but the maps I got will only work on that unit. They are programmed to the DVD based on the GPS unit serial number. That's why I am going to hold onto that unit for a while, play some more:-)

Pain in the...
Back! Anyone who personally knows me knows that back pain has been my nemesis for many, many, many years. I have always dealt with it and accepted it since they told me in 1994 that there was nothing they could do for me. Well, many years later, a new burning pain located about 6 inches lower then the original pain, has sent me looking for help. The pain at my beltline has always just been a "given". This new pain was a little harder to deal with. So, I was already seeing doctor for other old fart related illnesses and asked about my back.

Today I had an appointment with a Doc who actually spent an hour and a half with me. He was listening, pulling, pushing, talking, suggesting, and being pretty cool. He suggested that I see a neurosurgeon. I called BP's wife to see who his doctor was and told my doctor this was who I wanted to see. It is gonna be two months until I see him, but hell, I have been dealing with it this long, what is two more months? That will be in Marshfield on July, 12th.

They wanted to send me to Wausau for what is called an "open MRI". I guess it is supposed to be the fat-ass version:-) Well, that would mean an extra trip down to Wausau and probably a ton of headache with the insurance company. I told the nurse to get me an MRI appointment in Rhinelander. I told her I was not claustrophobic and they could oil me up and slide me in the tube, no big deal! That is scheduled for next Friday, May 20th.

So that is pretty much it. The Doc today was real cool, listened, that's what more doctors need to learn to do! We discussed injections into the vertebrae, no thanks! I look at it this way, and I shared this with the doctor. I would like to be more active by walking, biking, camping, whatever, even standing around in a garage drinking beers for no reason at all, driving to work, pain free. But, I cannot take part in those activities with my back pain the way it is now. If I sit, I hurt. If I stand, I hurt. If I walk, I hurt. I do not want a short term fix! He advised me of long term issues with surgery, arthritis, etc. We talked about that... I said, so at 60, I have a chance to be arthritic? But, maybe have 18/19 years of no severe pain between when I heal from any surgery and when I am 60? He said yes. I said, the alternative for me is to suffer the next 20 years as is, or with some measure of relief through risky injections. He said yes. I don't know about anyone else reading this, but to me, the choice is obvious.

GeoCaching Finds...
Last November I started the kids on a new little hobby/adventure dealie. We use my GPS to go find tupperware hidden in the woods:-) If you never heard of GeoCaching, check out their site, way cool! My back has been giving me fits lately and I know I need more exercise, even though it hurts like hell.

My Sony DSC-S70 digital camera battery was fully discharged so I had to take pics with the cell phone. I put them over on the MoBlog page.

Here is a direct link to the first find of the day at the GeoCaching.com website. Our username is "PodunkPaul".

Here is a direct link to the second find of the day at the GeoCaching.com website.

Clicking on the thumbnails below will take you to the MoBlog entry. First find is on the left, second find is on the right.

Huml.Live
Yup, webcam got dusted off and is back up and operational during daylight hours. I picked up this webcam about 5+ months ago, from eBay. It is a real nice cam and at a real good price compared to new! It's a StarDot WinCam.Live camera with the telephoto lens, thus the good view of the neighbors garden:-) It uses RS-232 and can run up to 100 feet. I was thinking about putting it down in the bar and looking out toward the street, but nice and easy having it in the office.

The current thumbnail image is sitting over there in the links area, click on it and it will open a small pop up window with a large 640x480 image. The image quality is really good! May get some wash out in the afternoon hours as it is pointed west. I have an iris cover and may put it on. I'll have to watch it this weekend to see how it works out.

The other day I gave a shout out to my cousin Don, down there in Houston. His son, John, has been e-mailing me, I gotta say hi to him too! Hi John!!

You Figure It Out!!
Gave me a damned headache! Watch the image for a little bit; count the peeps before and after. How'd they do that?

Gotta shout out to one of my Cousins living down in Houston, Texas. Hey Don!! Glad ya found the site, was nice reading your message today. Say hi to "Goat" when you see or talk to him next!

Supersize Me!!!!!
WOW!

Forget the Hardee's Thick Burger!!

$30.00 is probably a bargain when you consider everything they put on it! I don't know if you could go to the grocery store and buy all the components for less than $30.00 + tip. If you wanted to make it a bacon cheeseburger would they use one or two pounds of bacon?? LOL!! That's the only way I would eat it!! Needs bacon and an order of onion rings!

Grab that big old wheel!!
If my back could take it, I'd probably go back to driving truck, in a heart beat. Especially given the state of the current employment situation. I happened by this drivers website through a newsletter. His website layout is pretty nasty. But damn, I can REALLY relate to his "About Me" page. Michelle read it and thought it was pretty damn close to me. He even has a kick ass hair style:-) Go check out Thomas R. Wiles over at TruckerPhoto.com.

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
