SARS...
Yup, pretty sure I got SARS...  Must have been the high exposure to Asian people in San Francisco.  As soon as I feel a bit better, I feel crappier...  How does that work?

Hey, what the hell is that old saying??  "Feed a fever and starve a cold" or the other way around?  Maybe I should stop this dieting nonsense and get a case of good micro-beer and get trashed!!!!!

One other question...  What the hell should I do with this website???  I have been thinking a lot about abandoning this blog here and just going to blogger.com and using their resources.  None of the links on the right have really changed in 100's of years...  BP and I have been looking over that hill for a LONG time now!!  Jake is now an old looking dog and getting a white muzzle...  The Fishin Whole has been there for nearly 6 year...  I dunno...  What do the few who come here think?

Back in the barn...
Got home about 11:00 PM last night, watched some TV and went to bed about 12:30 AM...  I am tired, feel a bit sick, probably got SARS on the flight back home.

Have been hitting the blogs and catching up a bit.  Had to wait until I got home since the WIFI Internet connection at the hotel in San Fran sucked some serious butt.  I did see Dolf's entry on the 13th and it was so awesome, I had to post a link.  That video of the Librarian installing Ubuntu on a couple machines in the library was really cool!  The next few versions of Ubuntu are gonna be really nice!  Supposedly many gains have been made in driver support!  I can't wait!  More people need to run Ubuntu!  Break the MicroShat tie!  Don't use that excuse about Photoshop not working.  Learn how to use The Gimp!  I have to find a new way for web stuff.  I admit it, I am still addicted to Dreamweaver for my development stuff, but I need to find a different way.  Lately, I have simply been logging on via SSH and using Nano to edit files.

I am done sending pics to the Flickr page.  Based on the feedback I got, some of you out there really thought that was cool!!  I may have to do that some more!  I have to go back in there and add tags and stuff to the pics.  I did create a "set" and that is where the link will take you.  It was fun...  A few times I think Jason was wondering "what the hell, this dude is sending another picture!!!"  Hahahaha.

It is nice to be home...  While I was gone, our new bed arrived!!  Not sure if I am in the mood to tear down the water bed today and set the new bed up, or what...  In-Laws are up too, so maybe the bed will have to wait.  When I get the better pictures from the trip uploaded someplace I will let y'all know.

Back to the healthier way of life again, haha.  Not that I really ate or drank that much, and i could argue that some of the food I ate was really good, but yeah, most was not, haha.  I think all of the walking and time spent on my feet probably didn't hurt.  I walked so much that the bottoms of my feet are raw, time for new shoes!!!!

Gearing up...
It has been about 4 years since I last flew.  I checked the latest info on the TSA website for travelers.  Wow, you get a whopping, one quart zip lock bag to put your carry-on medicines and toiletries in.  All we had was gallon bags.  I figured if I used one of those I might wind up in Gitmo with a bunch of terrorists, so, I complied.  I and asked Michelle to purchase some one quart bags while she was at the store this morning.  Going to spend some time packing up today and getting ready for the trip.  Make sure all my favorite electronic doo-dads are all charged up; pack away all those chargers, cables, gadgets, and gizmos that I am addicted to.  Most importantly, a new big pack of Extra, Cool Green Apple, Sugar Free gum to help keep those ear drums get cleared after takeoff and on landing.  My ears have always had problems with that...  Even when I was driving truck and going through the Rockies, my ears would pop on some of those taller mountain passes and I would be screwed for a day or so not being able to hear right.  Since most of my time spent in San Francisco will be spent listening to others, I better do as much as I can, to ensure I hear them speak!!  I can't wait for Wednesday night!  VMWorld is throwing a huge party for everyone.  This year the theme is "The Streets of San Francisco"...  I am sure this means a very diverse offering of food, booze, and entertainment.  Last year, they had the VMWorld party at Universal Studios and the whole affair was catered by Wolfgang Puck with lotsa martini bars and tons of free beer, good beer too, from what I understand.   Can't wait!  My diet will so be blown!!

On the health front...  Some good news, I guess...  I have still been having some trouble with fatigue since being on the thyroid meds.  I had a new batch of blood drawn on Tuesday to check my TSH levels.  My number has improved, but is still not where it needs to be so they bumped me from 50 mcg to 75 mcg.  I hope that after a few days of taking that and getting the new dose going I may feel a bit better in the afternoon and evenings.  Michelle and I both had to add holes to our belts.  I put on a pair of shorts I haven't worn in two years and Michelle has found some new (old) clothes in the closet too.  Sammi likes baggy stuff, so she is happy her clothes are now hanging more off of her, haha.  I can't believe how much better I feel these days.  My back most likely will never change.  13-14 years of constant pain and a good 18 years of all around trouble with my back has me almost used to it.

I will be taking my Canon SD600 to San Francisco and am hoping to get some cool pics.  I was going to take the S2 IS, but I didn't wanna haul it around, especially since I have that little camera.  I will have the laptop, so I may post a message from out there.  I may also post pics directly to the MoBlog from the phone.  There might not be much description with the pics...  We'll see...  I also setup a Flickr account and y'all can check that from time to time...  I'll post more later as I figure that out.

Three Years and more good news!!
Today marks three years since I gave up the smokie treats!!  That is roughly 21,000 smokies not had and a savings of over $3,000 (I haven't seen a dime of that money!!).  Pretty cool, eh??  Since I last smoked, I have gained a ton of weight!!  Well, I am happy to report that after four weeks of pretty strict dieting (ok, I had a couple Goose Island Honker Ale's yesterday), I have lost 32 pounds.  Michelle and Sam have both lost about 10 to 11 pounds, each, in that same time frame.  I think that my weight loss has been greatly helped by the fact that my Thyroid is again effed up...  A normal TSH reading is .4 to 4.0 mlU/L, mine was 7.8mlU/L.  During this past month, I have been taking 50 mcg (micrograms) of Levothyroxine, and had more blood work today to see if that dose needs to be adjusted.  My 50 mcg dose, when compared to Michelle's 200 mcg dose, is pretty small.  However, I feel much better!  I have been playing ball with Mike and we even went hiking around Bond Falls, something I probably would have bailed out of a couple months ago.  I still have some fatigue issues, but that could either be the Thyroid or the meds for the neuropathy.

I see Jeff and DKHT were able to get past the secret word in the comments!  Nice to see that some smart people come here, haha!!

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
